About the facilitator
Sue Brown is an expert embroiderer. With a passion for both photography and botanical illustration, Sue has used these passions to develop her knitting and embroidery style which she refers to as Botanical Knitting.
Sue’s pieces are inspired by nature, personal journeys and beautiful yarns. She develops a knitted pattern based on her idea for the embroidery or the meaning of the piece.
Using 100% silk ribbon, cotton embroidery threads, sequins and 1000s of seed beads, Sue creates beautiful and meaningful works of knitted art.
Featuring bees in each pieces, Sue’s embroidery is different to traditional silk ribbon embroidery as you cannot draw a pattern onto the wool. This makes Sue relax and go with the flow.
Each piece Sue knits and embroiders is like a visual diary of memories and inspirations during her life.
In another life, Sue was a midwife and IVF nurse. She is now retired and has the freedom to travel and to create.
