About the event
Explore this technique from beginning to end with nothing but a Tunisian crochet hook and two colours of yarn. Tunisian mosaic is an extremely popular technique and learning it is not as hard as you might think!
Tunisian mosaic patterns do not change colours mid row and there is no carrying of floats along the back of the work. Each row of Tunisian stitches is made in one colour. The mosaic effect is created with overlay stitches over the top of the row below it.
If you are already familiar with crochet mosaic, you will see some similarities in doing Tunisian mosaic. The best thing is that regardless of working flat or in the round, you’ll never need to cut your yarn like you would if working 1 row crochet mosaic.
This workshop is for intermediate Tunisian crocheters.
What you will learn
How to work in Tunisian crochet mosaic colourwork
(Optional) How to work mosaic in the round using a cabled, single ended hook.

About the facilitator
Abbeymade is a leading Tunisian crochet designer and workshop facilitator.
Tunisian Crochet was the first yarn craft that she learned. Starting in 2012 and learning exclusively from library books, Abbey absorbed everything she could find about the craft. It didn't take her long to feel that the emphasis on blankets and washcloths was unwarranted, and there's only so many shawls a girl could wear. Where were the nicely draping wearables and properly fitting garments?
She has been experimenting and pushing the boundaries of Tunisian Crochet ever since. In such a short space of time, Abbey can see how much has changed. There is a huge emphasis on size inclusivity, yarn inclusivity and a demand that designers provide proper instructions rather than simple "recipes". Abbey loves that she is part of the growing trend to "do better" and is not simply pumping design after design out for the sake of a few more instagram followers.
While designing is a "side-hustle" for Abbey, she tends to fill every spare moment (and even moments that aren't really spare), to crochet, to write patterns, to tech edit and to help other designers out as a virtual assistant (Abbey’s really good at Ravelry!).
Abbey lives in Sydney, Australia with her hook making husband Haemish of @Catch_hooks fame, their daughter and a beautiful border collie.
