The Australian Yarn Show is a three-day celebration of community, collaboration and connection right here in Australia's capital. We bring together yarn and fibre lovers, artisans and industry leaders for a weekend of learning, creativity and inspiration.

With expert-led workshops, engaging panel discussions, hands-on demonstrations, a vibrant market hall, insightful guest speakers, fun competitions and supportive and friendly social events, we create a space where crafters of all skill levels can grow and explore.

We are on a mission to elevate the Australian yarn industry, support small businesses and foster a spirit of collaboration that extends beyond the Show itself.

Get ready for an incredible weekend of yarn, creativity and community! To make the most of your experience, here are a few things you might want to bring along 🧡

🛍️ A tote bag for all the gorgeous yarn and goodies you’ll find! If you are a VIP pass holder, you will receive a 2025 Australian Yarn Show bag as part of your experience!

📝 A shopping list of your MUST buys for the upcoming winter season. We definitely encourage you to explore beyond what is on your list with a few cheeky skeins here and there!

✍️ A notebook and pen for jotting down tips and insights from the talks and panel discussions. You will learn so much from our incredible speakers over the weekend, and we know how helpful it is when you have notes to refer back to!

💧 A water bottle. There will be water at the venue (both sparkling and still) for plenty of refills. Make sure you stay hydrated!

🧶 Your current WIP - perfect for social crafting in between sessions! We’re also encouraging attendees to bring some stash busting yarn and a spare needle or hook to create a 20cm x 20cm square to donate to the wonderful people at Roundabout Canberra who are making blankets for children of families in need.

👟 Comfortable shoes. With over 40 stalls to explore, a main stage, a community area, sit and sip spaces and the workshop zone, there’s a lot to see at the 2025 Australian Yarn Show! Make sure you’re wearing comfortable shoes. We will have plenty of places for you to sit and put your feet up with a cup of tea or coffee between yarn shopping.

💡 A sense of curiosity and creativity. You will learn so much at the Australian Yarn Show. Here is a chance to learn from professionals in the industry, artisans and other creative people within the community!

Kick off your knitting at the Community Connection Dinner with like-minded crafters and be part of a global knit-a-long movement 🧶

The Party Cardi Vest Knit-Along (KAL) is an opportunity for knitters from all around the world to come together to knit the Party Cardi Vest by Jaime Creates over a 6-week period 🗓️

The vest is worked from the top-down in sport weight fluff yarn, can be knit as either a striped or solid piece and is suitable for advanced beginners to intermediate knitters. It is a great transeasonal garment that can be worn both on its own as a lightweight knit during Spring and as a great layering piece for Autumn 🍂

Prizes will be awarded to encourage engagement throughout the KAL. There will be three prize winners drawn 🎉

The first prize draw will take place at the KAL launch at the Australian Yarn Show 💛

Yummy Yarn and Co is a bricks and mortar store in Dubbo NSW and is entering its 8th year of operation. Owner, Robyn Hicks, loves welcoming visitors to her shop and sharing her love of all things knitting and crochet 🧣

Jane Slicer-Smith of Signatur Handknits will be joining us at the 2025 Australian Yarn Show as a knitting facilitator! 🎉

Whilst still a student studying Fashion & Textiles in the UK, Jane’s early love of hand-knitting saw her working in London with Debbie Bliss and Patricia Roberts. In the early eighties, while living in Sydney and designing handknit patterns for a Japanese yarn company, Jane started Signatur Handknits at Paddington Markets, Sydney 📍

Signatur Handknits finished garments soon evolved into Signatur Knitting Kits since markets and shows allowed knitters to try a design before even casting on. This interaction with knitters allowed Jane to tweak patterns and personalise the design so each knitter achieved a perfect fit 👗

Personalising designs for kits and finished garments completely changed her approach to designing and writing patterns and taught her that the key elements of fit and ease are what create your style ✨

For 15 years, Jane enjoyed winters in each hemisphere between Australia, the US and England, teaching at retreats, on cruises, with guilds and at hand-knitting events. She had a fabulous time designing for yarn companies and knitting magazines, amongst them Vogue Knitting International and Knitters. It was the publishers of Knitters, XRX, who produced her first book of designs: Swing, Swagger, Drape – Knit the Colors of Australia 🦘

Over the last three years, she has been teaching mainly American knitters on ZOOM with XRX/Stitches at Home. Her technique classes include Intarsia, Mitres, Textures and button-making 🪡

Jane really hopes all her classes and presentations help knitters better understand their knitting and the techniques available to them 🧶

In this 3-hour workshop, you will learn how to read cable charts and written instructions all while making a little coffee cozy at the same time! Participants will leave with a knitted coffee cozy and a worksheet on cables and how to read them 📝

The inaugural Australian Yarn Show was an absolute dream come true - a celebration of fibre, creativity and community like no other! Of course, there were lessons we learnt which we have focused on improving and developing in 2025 🚀

As we gear up for an even bigger and better 2025, we’re also reflecting on what made our first event such a success 👏

🧑‍🏫 Incredible workshops
We are running almost DOUBLE the number of workshops this year after we received great feedback about last year’s workshops. We’re working with some of our instructors from 2024 again in 2025, including legends like Abbeymade, Pru Raymond and Sue Brown, who shared their expertise, sparking creativity and confidence in every attendee 🧡

🛍️ A vibrant marketplace
From indie dyers to sustainable fibre brands, our stallholders showcased the best of Australian yarn, with many selling out of some of their range before the weekend ended! We have 43 stallholders this year, showcasing an even more diverse range of products! 🧶

🎤 Engaging talks and demonstrations
Learning never stopped, with industry leaders, designers and makers sharing insights, tips and trends that inspired both beginners and seasoned crafters. We’re really excited about our jam-packed line-up on the main stage this year, including addressing questions asked by last year’s attendees and our community on social media! 🗣️

🫶 A sense of community, friendship and belonging
This was by far the best part. What each and every attendee brought to the Show with their warmth, their friendliness and their joy. Friendships were formed, new crafters learnt from experienced crafters and everyone was encouraged to be creative, bold and expressive in their art. Heartwarming is an understatement. It brings a little tear to our eye to every time we think about how our attendees cared for and supported one another 🥹

Our goal is to bring more of this energy in 2025. Who’s in? 🙋
