The Australian Yarn Show is a three-day celebration of community, collaboration and connection right here in Australia's capital. We bring together yarn and fibre lovers, artisans and industry leaders for a weekend of learning, creativity and inspiration.

With expert-led workshops, engaging panel discussions, hands-on demonstrations, a vibrant market hall, insightful guest speakers, fun competitions and supportive and friendly social events, we create a space where crafters of all skill levels can grow and explore.

We are on a mission to elevate the Australian yarn industry, support small businesses and foster a spirit of collaboration that extends beyond the Show itself.

Whether you're an experienced fibre artist or just picking up your first ball of yarn, the Australian Yarn Show is your place to be inspired, learn new skills and connect with a welcoming community.

We are excited to be welcoming Marzena Kołaczek back to the 2025 Australian Yarn Show! 🎉

Marzena Kołaczek is a Polish knitwear designer based in Sydney. She is a travel lover, pink fanatic and just a very happy and romantic woman, who admires everything connected in any way with nature 🍃

She personally designs, writes and edits patterns for you since 2014. The experience and knowledge that she has gathered over the years allow her to provide you with high-quality instructions, letting you focus only on the pleasant aspects of knitting 🧶

Marzena describes her designs style as modern romanticism. She loves creating sweaters that are full of beautiful, sophisticated stitch patterns and, at the same time, are suitable to be worn everyday by everyone for different occasions 💕

If you value comfort, minimalism and truly romantic details as much as Marzena, you will find something perfect for you in her patterns 🫶

Tess is a yarn dyer, a published pattern designer and a workshop facilitator 👋

Tess founded Fluff and Nonsense in Melbourne, Australia in June 2022 🧶

Initially taught by her mum to knit around age 10 or 11, Tess' first project was a terrible, holey, scratchy scarf, leading her not to knit again until her early 20s. It was then that Tess' sister-in-law taught her for the second time and she made her now husband a very wonky patchwork blanket as a Christmas gift (which he still has). Over the years, Tess has fallen in love with all the beautiful shades of yarn, the project possibilities and the different textures you can use and create 🌈

Tess was inspired to share this love with others which led her to establishing Fluff and Nonsense 🧡

Fluff and Nonsense used to be a part-time side hustle. During the day, Tess would work in a laboratory as a research assistant. Then, at night, she transformed into a yarn dyer. Moving house in 2023, Tess came to the realisation she didn't particularly want to commute up to 90 minutes each way to work. So she took the plunge, quit her job and made Fluff and Nonsense her full-time job 👩‍💼

Since diving into her entrepreneurial journey full-time, Tess has realised it is so much more than she thought it would be. From the yarn dyeing to the preparation of skeins, wholesale orders, advertising, photography, samples, markets and patterns, Tess has a lot of fun in her business and is wholeheartedly glad she created F&N 🫶

Tess firmly believes in whimsy, ridiculousness and the joy of small things 🤸

We are excited to be welcoming Lyn Franke to the Australian Yarn Show for the first time in 2025! 🎉

Lyn Franke was born in Perth Western Australia. Her childhood and teenage years were spent in the Gascoyne region returning to Perth at age twenty. Her tertiary qualifications were gained in Western Australia 📍

Her works are predominantly acrylic on canvas but may include mixed media/flora. Other textile based works incorporate felt, silk paper, paint, dye, fibres, stitch and threads 🪡

She has exhibited regularly, in solo and group exhibitions, since 2004, and has been the recipient of many awards during this time 🏆

Lyn has received commissions from organisations including Princess Margaret Hospital, New Norcia Bakery Cafe, Gallery 360 Subiaco, interior designers and private buyers. Collections include; St John of God Hospital in Subiaco, City of Belmont, City of Melville, City of Mandurah, City of Wanneroo, City of Stirling, Bethesda Hospital, corporations, works in England, Italy, USA, Singapore, Japan, Bahrain as well as many other private collections around the world 🌏

We look forward to hearing from Caitlin Ross of Handmade by Catkin at this year’s Australian Yarn Show! 🌟

Starting from a young age, Caitlin has always been involved in fibre arts 🧶

Yarn crafts and fibre arts became her lifeline in her adult life, when health restrictions limited her capacity to do other activities. The mental health benefits, as well as the sustainability of fibre arts, is Caitlin’s passion, and she loves sharing that passion with others 🌱

Though Caitlin is restricted in many ways, she pushes myself to the limit exploring the fibre arts world 🧣

Her skills include knitting, crochet, sewing (hand and machine), drafting, spinning, weaving, fibre preparation, dyeing, as well as creating tools and notions for these crafts. Caitlin also has a passion for the history of fibre arts and experience with many types of fibres through all these crafts. She loves to be learning all the time and sharing those experiences with like minded crafters 🧡

Caitlin will present on Saturday, March 8th from 1:45pm to 2:15pm on alternative fibres in crafting and again on Sunday, March 9th from 11:30am to 12:00pm on the importance of preserving the tradition of yarn crafts 🪡
