About the event
Get started knitting socks with Simple Socks! This workshop is designed by Pru Raymond to help knitters understand the anatomy of a sock and learn the key skills required to knit bespoke socks for themselves and others. Over the course of the three hours, participants will knit a mini sock to develop the skills and confidence to knit the full size DK and/or 4ply pattern included in the instruction booklet.
What you will learn
The basic anatomy of a sock and how each section fits together
How to cast on for socks and choose the right method
How to knit a cuff, leg, heel flap, heel turn, gusset and toe
Materials and tools
We will provide:
Scissors
Pens and pencils
What to Bring:
Needles: 3.75mm 80cm circular knitting needle
Yarn: 2 x 50g Coop Socks Yeah! DK (112m, 75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon) or equivalent (NB 100g DK sock yarn is sufficient to make the mini in class and complete a full size pair using the pattern provided in the instruction booklet)
Notions: wool/ sewing needle
Pre-requisite skills
This workshop is suitable for novice knitters who can knit and purl, can read a pattern and have completed a few basic projects. Ambitious beginners may this class too challenging. Experience of Magic Loop recommended but not essential.

Pru has worked as a qualified teacher for almost 20 years. She combines her expertise as a professional educator and her lifelong passion for knitting to develop original, engaging knitting workshops that are inclusive of all learners. Pru has an in-depth knowledge of diverse styles and techniques and demonstrates new skills in English, Combination and Continental Styles.
