About the event
Design and start making your own beanie or cowl using nothing but a double ended hook and two strands of yarn. This class covers the technique fundamentals which can be adapted to work either flat, circular and circular as a mobius. This method is brilliant for churning out quick makes and can also be used on garments and blankets. This circular method can use virtually any tc stitch. If you already have a favourite stitch combination, come armed with that to the class. Abbey will show a few examples of stitches great for working in this method to inspire your designing.

About the facilitator
Tunisian Crochet was the first yarn craft that Abbey learned. Starting in 2012 and learning exclusively from library books, she absorbed everything she could find about the craft. It didn't take her long to feel that the emphasis on blankets and washcloths was unwarranted, and there's only so many shawls a girl could wear. Where were the nicely draping wearables and properly fitting garments?
She's been experimenting and pushing the boundaries of Tunisian Crochet ever since. In such a short space of time, she can see how much has changed. There is a huge emphasis on size inclusivity, yarn inclusivity and a demand that designers provide proper instructions rather than simple "recipes". She loves that she is part of the growing trend to "do better" and not simply pumping design after design out for the sake of a few more instagram followers.
While designing is a "side-hustle" for Abbey, she does tend to fill every spare moment (and even moments that aren't really spare), to crochet, pattern writing, occasional tech editing and helping other designers out as a virtual assistant for things like Ravelry help.
Abbey lives in Sydney, Australia with her hook making husband Haemish of @Catch_hooks fame (also a side hustle.... he owes his perfected pointy tips to her fussiness), their daughter and a beautiful border collie.
